A representative of the Prosecutors Association of Serbia participated in the Meeting of the Working Group of the Parties to the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (the Aarhus Convention), held in Geneva from 24 to 26 June 2026, as part of the thematic session on access to justice in environmental matters.

During the presentation, the key challenges of environmental criminal law enforcement in the Republic of Serbia were outlined, with particular emphasis on the importance of effective inter-institutional cooperation among all authorities and institutions responsible for the detection, prosecution, and adjudication of environmental crimes.

The session also featured the presentation of the “Greening Justice” (Ozelenjavanje pravde) project, which aims to strengthen the capacities of all stakeholders involved in environmental protection through enhanced professional expertise, intersectoral cooperation, and the implementation of modern environmental law standards.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to exchange experiences with representatives of States Parties and international organizations, as well as to present Serbia’s activities and experiences in improving access to justice in environmental matters.

The participation of the Prosecutors Association of Serbia in this international event was made possible through the support of the European Network of Prosecutors for the Environment (ENPE), contributing to the active involvement of Serbian prosecutors in international dialogue on strengthening environmental protection through the effective enforcement of environmental law.
