PAS has prepared two brochures through which experts and the general public briefly present the working versions of the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Law of the High Prosecutorial Council, the two primary laws that will enable the constitutional amendments in the field of justice, promulgated at the beginning of this year, to work in practice. Both working versions are awaiting comments from the Venice Commission. They can be seen in full on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
The working version of the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office deals with undue influence on the prosecutor, foresees the expansion of the role of the collegium of the public prosecution, and makes new proposals regarding the mandatory instruction of the chief prosecutor. The working version of the Law on The Law of the High Prosecutorial Council (HPC) foresees the expansion of the jurisdiction of this body, economic autonomy based on the Constitutional Court, and criteria for selecting prominent lawyers in the ranks of the HPC.
