Three representatives from the Prosecutors Association of Serbia (PAS) participated in the prestigious 4 Networks Conference 2025 – Making the New Environmental Crime Directive Work, held in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 21-22 May 2025. This key event, organized by four prominent European networks — EUFJE (European Union Forum of Judges for the Environment), ENPE (European Network of Prosecutors for the Environment), IMPEL (European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law), and EnviCrimeNet — gathered experts and practitioners to discuss the practical aspects of implementing the new Environmental Crime Directive (ECD), which was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on 11 April 2024 (Directive (EU) 2024/1203).
The conference aimed to facilitate collaboration among public authorities in the implementation of the directive, focusing on sharing best practices, innovative solutions, and effective systems that are already in place or in development. The two-day event provided an invaluable platform for the exchange of knowledge on the enforcement of environmental law and the role of prosecutors in tackling environmental crime.
The Prosecutors Association of Serbia, through its active participation, contributed to discussions and gained valuable insights into enhancing Serbia’s approach to environmental crime enforcement, further strengthening its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
The collaboration among the networks at this conference marks an important step toward improving cross-border cooperation and harmonizing efforts to ensure that the new Environmental Crime Directive is implemented effectively across the European Union.
